Bass Player magazine review of:
Bass Lessons With The Greats
Instructional value: A-
Presentation: A

Glenn Letsch's excellent Hot Licks video Bass Guitar: The Lowdown, showed him to be both a bassist and teacher deserving of wider recognition. For his newest project, a book-and-CD package, he organized and co-wrote lessons with six of his colleagues: Lincoln Goines, Jimmy Haslip, Alphonso Johnson, Rocco Prestia, Gary Willis, and Victor Wooten. The well-planned 92 page book, features short bios of the players and provides each one ample room to relate his lesson through text and transcriptions (with tableture); the lesson is also demonstrated on the recording.

Overall, the impressive presentation and the musical diversity of the participants combine to make this the most informative and exciting bass-instruction package since Standing in the Shadows of Motown [Hal Leonard]. Everyone from beginners to advanced players can find something here, so let¹s hope Bass Lessons With The Greats will become and ongoing series.
